The Lehigh Gorge Trail is a world famous day trip giving you the Best Poconos Mountain Biking Experience! It follows the beautiful Lehigh River deep inside the Lehigh Gorge State Park. It is a crushed quartz stone gravel surface, has 2-4% downhill average grade and is a world famous Rail Trail made from an old landmark railroad bed from the 1800’s. This historic, scenic, well maintained, traffic free bike riding adventure is a once in a lifetime experience of our Nation’s Birthplace, Natural Wonders, Waterfalls and Family Fun.

During Fall Foliage (September-October)  the Lehigh Gorge Bike Trail is one of the best places in the world to witness the fall colors with over 127 varieties of tree species. The Poconos mountain biking is best seen from inside the beautiful Lehigh Gorge State Park with return/drop-off shuttles to and from Glen Summit, White Haven, Rockport, Glen Onoko and Jim Thorpe.

While mountain biking down the world famous Lehigh Gorge Trail; You will get to experience learning along the way about the old coal mining, forestry and railroad days along with great; river views, beaver ponds, scenic overlooks, high railroad trestles and unique wildlife to witness. All the Lehigh Gorge Bike Trails can be ridden with or without our VIP shuttle service:
  • Glen Summit (Elev: 1760') to White Haven (Elev: 1150') - D&L Black Diamond Trail 10 miles (Avg. 3-4% downhill grade) and connects to Lehigh Gorge Trail in White Haven
  • White Haven (Elev: 1150') to Rockport (Elev: 896') - Section 1 - Lehigh Gorge Trail 10 miles (Avg. .5-1% downhill grade)
  • Rockport (Elev: 896') to Jim Thorpe (Elev: 550') - Section 2 - Lehigh Gorge Trail 16 miles (Avg. 2-4% downhill grade)
Combine the Lehigh Gorge Bike Trail with or without the D & L Black Diamond Trail:
  • Glen Summit to Jim Thorpe - 36 miles (Elevation change: 1210' vertical drop) Ultra Marathon
    
  • White Haven to Jim Thorpe - 26 miles (Elevation change: 600' vertical drop) Marathon Distance
OR, just ride the shortest section and most scenic of the Lehigh Gorge Bike Trails:
  • White Haven to Rockport - 10 miles (Elevation change: 250' vertical drop) Family Distance

D and L Black Diamond Trail Trailhead Glen Summit Access PointD & L Black Diamond Trail, Glen Summit to White Haven, 10 miles – This rail trail has amazing views, a beautiful lake and awesome picnicking spots where the whole family is offered a great, first, Poconos biking experience.  You can ride round-trip from White Haven to Glen Summit (1-2 hours) or take a shuttle to the trail-head. Lehigh Gorge White Haven Access PointThe Upper Gorge Trail, White Haven to Rockport, 10 miles – The ride is in deep forest and covered with a foliage canopy most of the way and offers some of the best historic sites and waterfalls in the East.
