Extended Fall Foliage Season Bike Tours only $19.95

Pocono Bike Rental Fall Foliage ToursWe have extended our fall foliage biking tours until the middle of November due to the unseasonably warm weather.

This is the current Fall Foliage conditions according to the Pocono Mountains Visitor’s Bureau which we are a proud member of since 2015. The pictures below are from the Northeast US Fall Foliage Report according to the Fall Foliage Network in which we are proudly a leaf spotter for!

Week of Thursday, October 27, 2016 – Wednesday, November 2, 2016

fall foliage in the poconosNorthern: The northernmost color zone encompasses northern Wayne and Pike Counties. Cold weather and rain have brought down most of the leaves in the region. Full color is at 100% with 10% of the leaves on the trees. This region is past peak color.

Central: The central color zone encompasses southern Wayne, Pike and northern Monroe Counties. All of the region has gone through significant changes this past week. Some areas are still showing a broad array of colors. Many of the trees lost their leaves last weekend from the strong winds and rain. Some of the Oaks are still hanging onto their green leaves further to the south, but will change very soon. A good place to view the foliage, this week is on Kunkletown Road from Saylorsburg to Little Gap. Full color is at 95-100% with 40-60% of the leaves on the trees. This region is past peak color.

fall foliage in jim thorpeSouthern: The southern color zone encompasses southern Monroe County and Carbon County. Heavy rain and strong winds brought down some of the early fall colors, but the Oaks will continue to show color. As the early players in the fall color fall to the ground look for the color of many Oak trees to be the major component on the mountainside. There are many different colors displayed by these trees such as orange, red, yellow, and even when the bright color goes away, they will hold on showing a russet brown for several weeks. Look for Chestnut Oak and Red Oak on the ridge tops to show the best colors. There will also be some pockets protected from the wind, which will hold on to the early colors as well. Get out and explore the county to find some of these hidden gems. If you get out early enough, you can get some pictures with the heavy forest on the ground. Full color is at 70% with 50% of the leaves on the trees. This region is past peak color.

PoconoBikeRental.com, Your One Stop Shop for Outdoor Activities in the Poconos

https://poconobikerental.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/Pocono-Bike-Rentals-VIP-Shuttles-Service-and-Outdoor-Adventure-Activities

So you have decided. You want to spend a day in the picturesque mountains of the Poconos. Sitting down with your smart phone, laptop, or in front of a computer, you decide it is time to do some research. Where should you go? What is there to see? What do you wear? Can you bring the kids? All these and more are answered in full detail on PoconoBikeRental.com.

Pocono Bike Rental White Haven PA Location DirectionsWe are a primarily web-based bike rental service. This statement probably has you thinking, “But you rent bikes. What would some adrenaline-loving, physically fit hippies know about the internet?” The owner of our little bike rental shop, Tom Williams, once lived in Chicago. When he was not at play at the Lollapalooza Music Festival, he would be hard at work at an internet marketing company of his own creation.

Combining his knowledge of computer programming with his love of fitness, he created PoconoBikeRental.com. Someone with this much appreciation for all life has to offer would not just simply offer bike rentals on his website. With combo packages to go disc golfing, whitewater rafting in the Lehigh Gorge, and hiking, you can get all the information you need for a spectacular vacation on one website. With our great partners around the area, we are able to offer all these add-ons at a reduced price.

Pocono Bike Rental facebook pageMaybe you are just not sold by words alone. Not to worry, you can get the full picture of what it means to bike the Lehigh Gorge Rail Trail by the pictures and videos we post on both our Facebook page and webpage.

We want you to have a memorable time on the trail. We ensure this by taking pictures of our guests just before they bike Jim Thorpe or any other section of the trail. Social media today is much different than just 5 years ago. So to keep up with the times we have a whole page dedicated to our YouTube channel. Here you can find 8 videos created by PoconoBikeRental.com’s in-house videographer and Assistant Store Manager, Nicholas Toro. He along with other staff members, interns, the backdrop of the Pocono Bike Rental store, the town of White Haven and the world famous Lehigh Gorge State Park combined with GoPro recorded live action shots, created unique videos ranging in useful information from proper trail etiquette to renters’ testimonials.

Pocono Bike Rental twitter pageA good business is not just confident in itself, it must also have confident clients. On our website, we have a “Contact Us” button. There is a dropdown menu that includes guest reviews on both TripAdvisor and Google. Based on 200+ travelers on TripAdvisor, we are ranked the #1 thing to do in the town of White Haven, Pennsylvania. Our rating on Google is 4.9 out of a possible 5. A thousand promotions are nothing compared to the feedback from guests themselves. This is why we go above the standard of other Poconos bike rental shops. Being the only rental store partnered with both Tripadvisor and Viator, this allows us to give you the customer service you deserve, by allowing you to book a Poconos Biking Tour right on our award winning tripadvisor page.

Pocono Bike Rental YouTube Channel LogoUsing our website to book in advance also ensures security in your rental. Being a small business, we have a limited number of bikes available for rental. If you want to take your family down the trail one weekend, you may walk into an empty rental shop. If you take the time to plan ahead and book a rental, we will ensure your trip to White Haven or Jim Thorpe will not be in vain. This reduces any stress you may have and makes sure you get the perfect bike size and style for everyone in your group. It can also save you money with our online only specials as well it speeds up the check in process getting you on the trail faster!

Our goal is to answer any and every question or concern you may have before biking the Lehigh Gorge Bike Trail with PoconoBikeRental.com’s powerful multimedia experience. The website is very thorough; some say it’s almost perfect for the discerning outdoor adventure traveler. You may still have questions, and we look forward to hearing them.

pocono-bike-rental-trip-advisor-listingWe are the only biking website in the Poconos with a Live Chat service running during normal business hours (9 AM – 6 PM midweek, 9 AM – 8 PM weekends). This gives us the chance to answer instantaneously, making online booking quick and painless. We hope you’ll agree, and we look forward to seeing you on the Lehigh Gorge Rail Trail with PoconoBikeRental.com.

Single College Female, on Vacation, from Spain to the Poconos

Poconos VacationBeing a woman and having just gotten back home last night from my own family vacation, you could consider me an expert on the topic at hand. I spent the last five days laying in the sand and sipping frozen drinks by the poolside. Finding a place to eat or something icy to drink was central to our itinerary. Having a week of leisure can seem like a good idea at first, but now that I’m back in the Pocono outdoors, I feel like my vacation could have been spent more productively.

Before vacation I spent every day either renting mountain bikes at my job at Pocono Bike Rental or renovating the house I just moved into. Even though I am home, I feel like I’m still in vacation mode. A pizza is in route to my house and the jigsaw puzzle in front of me is my date for the evening. I am out of motivation and out of energy.

Let’s consider an opposing vacation; 2 months ago I took a 2-week vacation backpacking through Spain. I hiked 200 miles across the Northern countryside. When I came home I found myself working harder with more vigor than I had before. I now choose a bike ride or hike somewhere in the Poconos when I get bored over taking a nap.

A vacation is not symmetrical with laziness. It does not have to be spent wasting away with plans of eating and sleeping. A vacation is simply time away from the normal routine. Why not spend that time exploring the great outdoors? Spain might not be a suitable location for most timeframes or budgets. Luckily, you can get just as good of an adventure here in the Poconos, and for a lot less.

Lehigh Gorge State Park and Hickory Run State Park, Poconos, PANestled in the mountains of Pennsylvania, the Poconos offer many different possibilities to get out of your daily rut and into an exhilarating vacation. With numerous state parks – Nescopeck, Hickory Run, and the world famous Lehigh Gorge State Park to name a few – visitors have hundreds of miles of hiking and biking trails to choose from free of charge. If you’re looking for an activity a little more out of the norm, try white water rafting in the Poconos. With the Lehigh River’s Class 3 rapids, it’s an exciting trip for anyone seeking some adventure. If you want to cover more ground and take in as many sights as possible, spend a day biking the Lehigh Gorge Trail 26 downhill miles to Jim Thorpe, PA. You get the true taste of the Poconos as your are hidden within the trees while also having the Lehigh River to guide your journey and give you music better than most songs on the radio.

Hiking in the Poconos is fun

Outdoor adventures should not be sought out solely by men. Being a woman and always looking to challenge myself, I love finding things to do outside. Many of my girlfriends tell me they would rather spend a day at the nail salon or somewhere they could gossip in groups. I know the power of a good conversation just as much as the next girl. That being said, I made some of the greatest friends of my life carrying a 20-pound backpack across the Spanish countryside. Physical activity opens up the mind and heightens your senses. If you’re looking for a way to connect with family or friends during a getaway trip, try doing something physical. You will be amazed how much you bond over your struggles and triumphs. Biking, hiking and one of America’s Fastest Growing Sports, Disc (“Frisbee”) Golf, is also fun for friends and family to enjoy while hiking in the great Poconos outdoors. Pocono Bike Rental is the place to rent everything you need to learn to play Disc Golf!

lehigh gorge rail trail bikingMany women have struggled at some point to accept their body image. Self-esteem can be fleeting, and when you spend a vacation making unhealthy choices, it can take a toll on your mental and physical wellbeing. That is why I promote an active vacation. Once a college intern, then store clerk and now handling Marketing and Public Relations here at Pocono Bike Rentals, time management is key . Being a part of nature for just a few hours is all your brain needs to rest and relax. One perfect trip close to home is to take your butt  to the Lehigh Gorge Trail in White Haven, PA the heart of the Poconos and ride to Buttermilk falls at the very least. The more fearless can ride the entire Lehigh Gorge Trail to Jim Thorpe, PA, the gateway of the Poconos. Upon arrival you will be greeted by one of the quaintest small-town atmospheres you would possibly imagine. With a Main Street named Broadway, you should plan on being there a while, possibly days to be a part of all the action!

Any person of any age can find an enjoyable vacation in the Poconos. At PoconoBikeRental.com, you can surf not only our site but there are links to click to explore many more possibilities for day trips around the Lehigh Gorge, Hickory Run and Nescopeck State Parks. Make a unique vacation this year and spend a few days exploring the Poconos with us! You will not be disappointed, and you will enjoy the time off the clock and away from the couch.

Three State Parks in the Poconos That Will Get Anyone Off the Couch and into the Wilderness

Poconos Whitewater Rafting, Biking, Hiking, Disc Golf

The Lehigh Gorge State Park, Hickory Run State Park and Nescopeck State Park in the Poconos offer unlimited outdoor fun!

Written by: Amber Jadus, Public Relations, PoconoBikeRental.com

You look down to see a handlebar, a tire, a path zipping by beneath you. You look around to take in the trees, the Lehigh Gorge, the wind in your face. This is your surroundings on the Lehigh Gorge Rail Trail at face value. What may not be as easily observed is the history behind it all. What was once used to transport coal is now home to an array of recreational activities from biking to hiking to white water rafting. Looking around at the current scenery is only scratching at the surface. If you choose to bike or hike in the Lehigh Gorge State Park, try stopping now and again to scan the sides of the river. You can find evidence of past river transportation methods from a series of dams, locks, and canals from the historical markers along the way. Not only are there sights to see and activities to do along the bike trail, there are also numerous other places to check out at a couple nearby parks.

Francis E. Walter Dam - Lehigh Gorge - Poconos

One local architectural marvel, The Francis E. Walter Dam, lies on the Lehigh River just below Bear Creek. After flooding that prohibited the river’s ability to transport goods, the dam was necessary to salvage the river’s usefulness. With a storage capacity of nearly 36 billion gallons of water, the dam lends a safe area to catch a fish, grill it, and picnic tables to sit down and eat it. You can boat; canoe, kayak and Stand-up Paddle Board (SUP) just have all your paperwork in order. A unique feature at this dam is its shoreline boulders and steep cliffs right off the water. The “Dam” as it is called, is also where you can find 2 Championship Level Disc Golf Courses which are FREE to play. Local retailer PoconoBikeRental.com sells and rents the “Frisbee golf” discs to play with. Located less than 8 miles north of the White Haven biking trail head, this spot is worth the 15-minute drive.

Lehigh Gorge Bike Trail - Lock System

Maybe you showed up to the Poconos on a whim with no fishing pole and no desire to rent a bike or raft. With a total of 96 miles’ worth of hiking between the three local state parks, you can quickly get lost trying to explore all the woodlands at your disposal. Hickory Run State Park has 24 lettered hiking trails as shown on their park map, Nescopeck features two quaintly-named trails, and the Lehigh Gorge has 26 mainline miles and 7 miles of unmarked hiking. While all three state parks enable hiking, each park offers its own set of unique attractions that deserves an individual trip.

Lehigh River - Lehigh Gorge State Park - Poconos PA

The Lehigh Gorge State Park’s main attraction, the Lehigh River, is nothing short of magnificent. Home to Class 3 whitewater rapids, the park offers a rafting experience that is both challenging and thrilling. If you would rather stay dry on your trip, you can catch the views of the river from the famous Lehigh Gorge Bike Trail. Part of the D&L Trail Network, this biking and hiking trail is ranked one of the Top 100 Rail Trails in the US.  A further option is to check out combination trips. Many different local outdoor businesses have joined forces to offer combo packages that can be booked in advanced. Some quick research on the shops’ websites will ensure you have time to tackle all the activities offered at reasonable prices. For more information on Pocono Bike Rental’s Outdoor Adventure Packages: Poconobikerental.com/pocono-fun/

Boulder Field Hickory Run State Park Poconos PA

A 12-minute drive from White Haven offers over 40 miles of hiking in the Hickory Run State Park. This park, having the most miles of trails to explore, gives you a unique look into the natural beauty of the Pocono Mountains. Beneath your feet, the rocky soil serves as a reminder of what once covered the region, a gigantic sheet of ice. This glacial till is spilled away by a remote mountain stream called Mud Run. Here is where you might spot a fisherman or two in search of their prized trout. There’s also always the possibility of bumping into some slightly wilder creatures like a black bear. Better admired from afar, these animals are native to the habitat. The beauty of this park is that your visit does not need to be wrapped up in just one day. With amenities that enable anything from basic camping all the way to RV hook-ups and cabin rentals, you can take off your hiking boots and spend the night. The Hickory Run State Park Championship-level disc golf course is also a great option for the day or to play as part of a package with another outdoor adventure.

Nescopeck State Park - Poconos - PA

Popping up on Honey Hill Road, Nescopeck State Park unravels across the mountains. The park’s combinations of wetlands, forestry, and the pristine Nescopeck Creek harbors over 160 species of birds, 50 species of mammals, 30 species of amphibians and reptiles and over 650 species of plants. Whether you wish to observe its inhabitants from afar, or you’re more driven to reel in one or two on a fishing pole, this territory provides opportunities for whatever you may prefer. PA Boating laws apply on its 9-acre lake; call the park for more information on this and any other questions you have.

whitewater rafting in the poconos

The recreational activities at these parks cater to adventure-seekers of all ages and budgets. With East Stroudsburg University being under an hour away, college kids have three parks with a variety of mainly free activities for a cheap yet memorable trip. If you are looking to explore beautiful scenery at a reasonable price, a good option is to rent a bike for around $20 and alternate between soaring down the trails and taking the time to jump off periodically to hike along the way. Populated by both natural animal wildlife and like-minded adventure-seekers out for a visit of their own, you never know what you’ll find on the trail. Whether you grab your hiking boots, your bike, your kayak, or your fishing rod for the trip, we will be here anxiously awaiting your next adventure to the Pocono Mountains!
