Pocono Bike Rental Sponsors Fundraisers for 2 Disc Golf courses in the Poconos

The disc golf mecca as it is locally known is White Haven, PA. With 4 courses within a 10 mile radius we are quite lucky to have ourselves some amazing vistas to play disc golf at. This is the time of year for spring cleanup and maintenance of these courses and this weekend there is 2 fundraisers happening at the Linesville Park Disc Golf Course just blocks from downtown and the Francis E. Walter Dam Course(s) to help offset some of these annual costs.

Pocono Bike Rental is proud to sponsor both events this weekend. All entrants  to both events will receive a free bike rental valid during the 2015 season. Pocono Bike Rental rents high quality mountain bikes for use on the world famous Lehigh River Gorge Rail Trail System. Pocono Bike Rental also sells discs both new, used and new local course fundraiser plastic. You can also rent discs and bags for day play in the local area. Disc Golf Shuttles are available for additional fees to  the local courses and for bikers to Glen Summit, Rockport and Jim Thorpe.

Brian Hoch from White Haven had the vision to build a disc golf course near the baseball fields on the edge of town. He carefully planned it out, got the funding through grant money and within a dedicated couple of years we now have 18 holes of brand new baskets, bridge over water, concrete tee boxes and golf bag holders on many holes.  So he and Jonathon Meehan got together and are having a PDGA C-Tier Event that has a special event status for fundraising which allows non-PDGA members to play without any extra fees. This event to be held today is for Linesville and is the 1st annual. Tomorrow’s event at the “Dam” is not a PDGA event but is a fundraiser for the 2 courses there and is historically the annual event is named “Do it for the Dam”. Tom Williams the owner of Pocono Bike Rental and an avid disc golfer is grateful for the opportunity to sponsor these two great annual events.

Both tournaments registration begins at 8am with 2 rounds of play starting at 9am with a short player provided lunch between rounds. Linesville will have a representative from Antonio’s Pizza to take delivered lunch orders!

To redeem your free bike rental you must bring your free disc from the tournament to  P.B.R. to prove entry.

 

Pocono Bike Rental had a soft opening this weekend in the historic town of White Haven, PA

We settled in nicely to our permanent location in the Poconos at; 322 Main Street, White Haven, PA 18661 on the corner of PA State Route 940 right next door to Extreme Adventure Travel, a Whitewater Rafting and Kayak Shop. After a soft opening on a sunny spring weekend, at their newly occupied space, the welcome addition to this beautiful mountain town will surely be a big hit among the mountain biking enthusiasts in the Northeast PA Poconos region and beyond.

This new professional bike shop will rent bikes, provide shuttles and some minor service repairs to the general public. We will also be carrying a line of healthy beverages, energy drinks, fresh fruit and snacks like granola and energy bars.  The shop is housed an a beautiful traditional red brick building that anchors this busy main thoroughfare. The hours of operation for Spring 2015 will be M-F 10-4, Saturday and Sunday 8-6.

This unsuspecting town is located at the very beginning of the World Famous Lehigh Gorge Rail Trail and Whitewater Rafting system. We will be hosting a Grand Opening during the month of May which will be announced this coming week. We have updated our pricing and will be announcing some preseason specials and season pass bike rentals, storage and ownership program. We will also be announcing our fundraising efforts and charity ride schedule for the 2015 season in the coming weeks. We have a fantastic internship program set up with 6 local colleges and universities including Wilkes, Kings, Misericordia, Scranton, LCCC and East Stroudsburg. We will be training today’s youth and mentoring them to becoming a well rounded individual while providing them with real world business experience giving them a better future in the job market. We also will be partnering with several local businesses to improve their wellness program, increase our exposure and provide a healthy and fun way to stay in shape while experiencing the great outdoors of the Northeastern PA Pocono region.
