10-31-2014 Scenic Bike Train Fall Foliage Adventure

fall foliage bike train adventure lehigh gorge rail trailCheck out the Scenic Bike Train spanning White Haven to Jim Thorpe!

Take a journey back in time the way folks used to travel long distances post invention of the steam engine. Enjoy this relaxing train ride the full length of the Magnificent Lehigh Gorge for 25 miles. Take in Mother Nature’s beauty while deep in the forest alongside the mighty Lehigh River and its tributaries making waterfalls and white water adventures. After you reach White Haven come walk a block North up to 320 Main Street. There you will be at our shop and we will get you outfitted with your bike, helmet, map and water bottle if necessary. We will give you a set of safety instructions and then you will pedal your bike back down the 2-4% grade to Jim Thorpe at your own pace along the Lehigh Gorge Rail-Trail.

Jim Thorpe Fall Foliage Train Ride to White Haven Poconos PAThe start of the day begins in Jim Thorpe where you can just simply buy a train ticket on the 9am train to come to White Haven or reserve you seat with us over the phone and we will have your ticket waiting for you at the train station. You will board the Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railway for about a one hour ride as the train maneuvers onto the former Lehigh Valley main line and passes Glen Onoko, the southern gateway to the Lehigh Gorge State Park.

As you comfortably ride in the historic train car the scenery is truly amazing. The train will follow the famous Class 3+ Whitewater Lehigh River for 25 miles, winding all the way up to the town of White Haven.

Along the way, you’ll see the locks and canal systems remnants from the; Massive Economy Changing Coal Mining Industry and Tannery, scenic overlooks and railroad trestles. Remember your camera. The several beautiful waterfalls provide great photo opportunities.

If you don’t have a bike or don’t want the hassle of bringing your own, no worries – just rent one of our AWESOME Entry level through Expert Bikes from:
