🍁 Poconos Fall Foliage Update – October 17, 2025

Peak color has arrived across much of the Poconos, and 2025 is delivering one of the most vivid mid‑October displays in recent years. The combination of cool nights, dry early October weather, and a healthy summer canopy has produced deep reds, bright golds, and strong oranges throughout the region. Leaf drop remains moderate, and the color saturation is excellent — especially in the Lehigh Gorge.
🍂 Current Color Status – Week of October 17, 2025
- Peak Color (70–90%) – White Haven, Glen Summit, Hickory Run
- Near Peak (60–75%) – Rockport
- Approaching Peak (50–65%) – Jim Thorpe
🌄 Regional Breakdown
Black Diamond / Glen Summit
Explosive color this week. Reds and oranges dominate the ridge lines, with golds filling the understory. This is the best section of the Gorge right now.White Haven / Hickory Run
Peak conditions. Hickory Run’s meadows and wetlands are glowing with gold and amber. The Shades of Death Trail is spectacular.Rockport
Near‑peak with excellent saturation. Expect full peak within 3–5 days.Jim Thorpe
Color is building quickly. The Switchback and Glen Onoko areas are showing strong reds and oranges, with oaks adding bronze and russet tones.🌳 Tree Species Update
- Red Maple: Deep crimson and scarlet
- Sugar Maple: Bright orange and gold
- Hickory: Peak gold
- Birch: Yellow with moderate leaf drop
- Oak: Bronze, russet, and deep red — holding beautifully
